Feast Like an Iban
Mention the word Borneo, and it conjures up images of exotic adventures in the Land of the Hornbills, tropical rainforests , diverse ethnic tribes rich in history and culture and of course fearsome Iban Headhunters!We are glad to say that the the other half of Wild Serai’s ancestors put that practice to rest at least 4 generations ago, but since our wedding in Sarawak a year and a half ago I have been on a mission to explore the diverse ethnic cuisine and learn to cook like a good Iban wife! And I am pleased to say that we are now ready to share with you the gratifying results. 🙂 So we invite you to come sup at our table and try some flavour combinations that you probably haven’t tried before whilst you ‘Feast Like an Iban’! We will also be joined by a fellow Sarawakian, Richard, who will be guest chef-ing at our supperclub and serving up some delicious secret family recipes!

Iban Manok Pansoh – Guinea Fowl marinated in lemongrass, galangal, chilli, sweet basil leaves, steamed in banana leaves and bamboo
Cangkok Manis, cabbage and Sweet Potato Lemak – Vegetables simmered in a shallot, chilli and coconut milk broth infused with dried shrimp and belachan
A Brodie Family Favourite – Beef Cempera (Beef simmered in dark soya sauce, chilli and lime juice)
Kangkong Belachan – We would love to use the traditional fern midin but unfortunately have yet to find it in London!

We are very excited to be hosting our first supperclub in our new home! Malaysian Chilli Crab fires up Tooting
And that’s a wrap!Our Chilli Crab bank holiday extravaganza to finish off our month long residency at the amazing Unwined in Tooting was a sold out hit with rave reviews. Thank you to everyone who came to feast with us and for all the amazing feedback we have had this past month. It’s been truly wonderful. Till the next Malaysian feasting extravaganza.
